Configuring and Using Total Loss

OnePad can help you make total loss decisions by displaying:

  • A running total of vehicle repair costs.
  • Spare part prices.
  • A comparison of repair costs to vehicle value.

To activate and configure one of the above tools, click to open the Settings dialog box and then click the Total Loss tab.

Enabling the Display of Vehicle Repair Costs Running Total

  1. Select the Check if Total Loss has been reached after every repair tickbox.
  2. Click OK to confirm your selections and close the dialog box. The total loss bar displays in the Toolbar and shows a running total of repair costs, as shown below:

Note: Please be aware that configuring OnePad to display a running total of repair costs affects the performance of the application.

Enabling the Automatic Display of Part Prices

  1. Select the Display price of part when click on tickbox. If spare part price information is available for the part you click, the system will display the price in the Repair Panel. Refer to Viewing a Spare Part Price for more information.

Comparing Repair Costs to Vehicle Value

  1. Select the Interactive Total Loss tickbox.
  2. If you wish to compare the costs of repair with the net vehicle value (without VAT), select the Use net values tickbox. If you do not select this tickbox, OnePad will compare repair costs with the gross vehicle value. Your selection is shown in the total loss bar as excl VAT (Net Value tickbox selected) or incl VAT (tickbox not selected).

In your configuration, it may not be possible to choose whether the net or gross vehicle value is used for comparison.

  3. Enter a vehicle value in the Vehicle Value field or click calculator to use the calculator pad to enter a value.
  4. If required, enter a value in the Percentage field or click calculator to use the calculator pad to enter a value. OnePad will notify you if the repair costs exceed this percentage of the vehicle value. See the examples below.

If configured for your organisation, the Percentage field will be prefilled with a default value. You can change this value according to your requirements for the case.

  5. Click OK to confirm your selections and close the dialog box.

The running total of repair costs is shown in the Toolbar. Whilst the running total remains below the vehicle value, the running total is highlighted green. As you continue capturing damage, the system indicates the cost of repair as a percentage of the vehicle value. The percentage value is also shown. In the following example, the system indicates that repair costs equate to 19% of the vehicle value:

    running total with %

If you have also entered a value in the Percentage field, the running total also includes a marker to indicate this.

If you hover the mouse over the running total, the system will display a tooltip showing the current repair cost total and a breakdown of the repair costs with the following split: Labour Cost, Paint Cost, Parts Cost and Extra Cost. The tooltip also shows the entered vehicle value. If configured, this information will also display in a separate panel in the bottom left-hand corner of the browser window and you can also view the information in a pop-up by double-clicking the running total.

Example: You define the vehicle value as 20000. You do not define a percentage. In this case, OnePad will notify you if repair costs exceed 100% of the vehicle value i.e. 20000.

Example: You define the vehicle value as 20000 and additionally enter 65% in the Percentage field. In this case, OnePad will notify you if repair costs exceed 65% of the vehicle value i.e. 13000.
