Selecting Assemblies and Assembly Parts

An assembly is a collection of individual parts, which are usually repaired as a whole. Assembly information for each vehicle is provided by the manufacturer and can vary across models. You can select assemblies and assembly parts in the Assemblies tab or directly in the Vehicle Drawings Panel. The former method is the preferred method if you know the name or number of an assembly but are unsure as to what it looks like or its position in the vehicle zone.

lightbulb_on With a main assembly or assembly part selected in the Assembly tab, when you click the assembly or assembly part button in the Repair Panel, the system applies pink shading to the main assembly and any assembly parts. This helps you to see which parts make up the assembly. Click here for more information.

It is important to note that if you select the assembly part, the repair and paint method will only be applied to the assembly part and not the assembly as a whole.

Notes:

- Some assemblies, for example wing mirrors, are common to both sides of the vehicle. L indicates left side of the vehicle. If you want to select the assembly for the right side of the vehicle, you must expand the assembly by clicking and select the assembly labelled R.

- You can read more about the shading the system uses to provide more information about vehicle parts by referring to Viewing Material Properties.

- Depending on the width of the Zones Panel, the system might not display all the entire assembly or assembly part description. To view the description in full, you can either increase the size of the panel or place the cursor over the assembly or part to view a tooltip showing the full description. For more information about increasing the size of the panel, refer to the section Zones Panel in Understanding the OnePad Interface.
